Description

Action Roguelike +  Deckbuilder

Rogue Drone Hunter is a unique action-roguelike deckbuilder featuring combat where you cycle between turn-based planning and on-the-fly execution. Set within the ruins outside the neon-lit city of Elysia, you must shoot and dodge through waves of rogue drones while constructing a battle deck to unleash devastating card combos.

Long-abandoned by humanity, the outskirts of Elysia have been silently patrolled by mysterious, ancient drones. But these once-passive machines have grown increasingly hostile, transforming the forgotten ruins into a dangerous, looming threat. Team up with your drone companion to explore lost ruins, salvage tech, and stop the encroaching mechanical swarm.

Features

  • DIVERSE DECKBUILDING - Build your ultimate deck from a library of hundreds of cards. Experiment with diverse ability combinations and card synergies to turn your drone companion into a powerful force of destruction.
  • HIGH-OCTANE COMBAT - Test your reflexes in frantic but complex skirmishes. Dodge enemy attacks while dismantling relentless boss machines using real-time execution and tactical card deployment.
  • THE EVER-CHANGING RUINS - Explore a world of constant change. Adapt your strategy to a rotating pool of cards, perks, and enemies that ensure every run through the lost ruins feels unique.
  • MEET NEW ALLIES - Engage with a cast of diverse personalities through conversation back at home base to uncover the origins behind the rogue drone threat.

Background

The game started out as a general idea a long time ago, when I had little experience in game development. I was already collaborating with friends on another game project as a side hobby, so I was attempting to hone my skills in this field for my own project. After that project was shelved, I spent a long stretch of time crafting concept art and the game's basic foundations while on a massive green tea binge.

After a life threatening encounter with a flock of aggressive seagulls, I decided to fully commit to the project after the pandemic. As the sole developer and artist, I wanted to explore fresh concepts while drawing inspiration from my favorite games (particularly from the roguelike genre).
